Eight years after the war Harry Potter walked the marble corridors of the Ministry with the weight of medals he never wanted. At twenty-six he still carried the scar on his forehead and the ghosts of battle in his stride. His job as an Auror lead him to Diagon Alley investigations more often than he liked and that was how he found himself face to face with Draco Malfoy again.
Draco had rebuilt the family name through quiet Ministry contracts and careful alliances. At twenty-seven he wore tailored robes that whispered of old money and new restraint. Their first meeting after the trials had been cold nods in crowded halls. The second had been an argument over a cursed artifact that left them both breathing hard in an empty office.
Weeks passed and the arguments grew longer. Draco's voice stayed sharp but his eyes lingered on Harry's mouth when he thought no one watched. Harry felt the pull like a hex he could not shake. He told himself it was just the aftermath of shared history yet the heat in his chest said otherwise. Forbidden did not begin to cover it. Two men who had tried to kill each other now circled like magnets that refused to repel.
One stormy evening the Ministry floo network glitched and Harry arrived at Malfoy Manor instead of his flat. Draco opened the door himself his hair loose and his shirt open at the throat. Neither spoke at first. The rain hammered the windows and the house elves had been dismissed for the night.
- You should leave Potter.
Harry stepped inside anyway. - You don't want me to.
The words hung between them thick with every unsaid insult and every secret glance. Draco closed the door with a flick of his wand. The click echoed like a gavel.
They stood in the entrance hall surrounded by portraits that muttered disapproval. Harry remembered the last time he had been here as an enemy. Now the air crackled with something else. Draco's fingers twitched at his side. Harry moved first reaching out to touch the pale scar that ran along Draco's forearm from the war.
- We are not those boys anymore - Harry said.
Draco's breath hitched. He pulled Harry close by the collar and the kiss was nothing like their past fights. It was slow at first testing then desperate. Tongues slid together and hands fumbled with robes. Harry tasted firewhisky and mint. Draco tasted regret and want.
They stumbled toward the study where a fire already burned. Draco pushed Harry against the heavy desk his mouth on Harry's neck. Buttons scattered across the floor. Harry's hands mapped the lean muscle of Draco's back feeling the raised lines of old curses. Draco whispered filthy things in that clipped voice that made Harry's knees weak.
- I have thought about this since the trials - Draco admitted against his ear. - Hated you for it.
Harry answered by dropping to his knees and taking Draco into his mouth. The sounds Draco made were nothing like his public sneer. They were raw broken gasps that echoed off the bookshelves. Harry used every trick he knew until Draco hauled him up and spun him around bending him over the desk.
Preparation was hurried with wandless magic and spit their urgency too great for patience. When Draco pushed inside Harry the stretch burned sweet and deep. They moved together with years of tension uncoiling in every thrust. Harry braced against ancient wood while Draco gripped his hips hard enough to bruise. The forbidden thrill sharpened every sensation.
They changed positions on the thick rug before the hearth. Harry rode Draco watching silver eyes darken with pleasure. Sweat slicked their skin. Names spilled out mixed with curses and praise. Draco came first with a hoarse cry his body arching. Harry followed moments later spilling across Draco's stomach.
Afterglow left them tangled and quiet. Draco traced the lightning scar with one fingertip. Neither mentioned tomorrow or the Ministry or the world outside the manor's wards. The fire crackled lower and the portraits had gone silent in shock.
Harry knew this was only the beginning of something dangerous and necessary. Draco's hand tightened around his wrist as if daring him to leave.
