The air conditioner in room twelve coughed once and died. Outside, the highway shimmered under the late sun, and inside, the single ceiling fan pushed hot air in lazy circles. I had checked in an hour earlier, peeling my damp shirt from my back, when the knock came. Two men stood there, both older than me by a decade, both carrying the same restless look the heat put in everyone.
"Power's out across the strip," the taller one said. His name was Marcus. The other, leaner, called himself Leo. They had the room next door. I should have sent them away, but the silence felt heavier than their presence, so I stepped aside.
We drank warm beer from the mini-fridge. Conversation stayed light until Marcus mentioned the way the lock on my door had stuck earlier. Leo smiled at that, and something in the room changed. Marcus suggested we test whether the door would hold if someone wanted in. I answered by sliding the chain across myself, then turning the deadbolt with deliberate slowness. Leo's eyes followed my hand.
Marcus moved first, stepping behind me, his fingers brushing the damp hair at my neck. I let him. Then I turned and caught his wrist, pressing it to the wall. Leo laughed softly and came closer. For a moment the three of us stood still, each waiting to see who would lead next.
I released Marcus and crossed to the bed, stripping off my shirt. The cotton clung before it fell. Leo followed, kneeling at the edge to unlace my boots. Marcus watched from the chair, one ankle crossed over his knee, but his breathing had changed. When Leo's mouth found the inside of my thigh, I reached for Marcus without looking and crooked a finger. He rose at once.
Control passed like a shared cigarette. Marcus took my wrists and held them above my head while Leo's tongue traced higher. I arched, then twisted free and rolled Marcus onto his back. Leo moved behind me, his hands on my hips guiding the pace I set against Marcus. Sweat gathered between my shoulder blades and ran down my spine. Every breath tasted of salt and warm beer.
Marcus pulled me down for a kiss that turned into a bite along my lower lip. I answered by pinning his shoulders and slowing my movements until he swore. Leo took the opening to slide his hand between us, fingers slick with shared heat. The rhythm broke and reformed. One moment I directed both of them with words and pressure; the next, Marcus flipped me onto my stomach and Leo held my ankles apart while Marcus entered me in one long thrust. I pushed back, forcing him deeper, then reached for Leo and drew him into my mouth, using the same rhythm to make both men gasp.
The fan rattled uselessly overhead. Our skin stuck wherever it touched. When Marcus slowed, I slipped free and turned my attention to Leo, straddling him while Marcus watched, one hand working himself. Leo's fingers dug into my thighs as I set a deliberate pace. Marcus joined again, his mouth at my neck, his voice low against my ear telling me exactly how I looked. I reached back and took his wrist, pulling him closer until the three of us moved as one shifting mass of limbs and breath.
Orgasm rolled through me first, sharp and sudden, and I clenched around Leo until he followed. Marcus lasted longer, control returning to him in the final minutes. He pulled me upright against his chest, one arm across my breasts, the other hand between my legs, driving into me until he shuddered and went still.
We lay tangled across the narrow bed, breathing hard. The heat had not broken. Outside, a truck passed on the highway, its headlights sweeping the curtains. Marcus traced idle circles on my stomach. Leo's fingers rested at my hip. No one spoke for a long time.
Then Marcus lifted his head. "The generator usually kicks on around midnight," he said. Leo smiled against my shoulder. I felt the weight of their attention settle again, heavier than before, waiting for the next shift.
The generator never started.
