The halls of the Red Keep feel heavier than you expected, every corridor echoing with whispers that follow you like smoke. As a lady of a minor house you had hoped to remain unnoticed, yet from the moment you arrived Prince Aemond's gaze has tracked you across every feast and gathering. Tonight the court has retired, leaving only the soft glow of torches along the stone walls. You round a corner and nearly collide with him. He stands alone, silver hair catching the firelight, the sapphire in his left eye socket gleaming coldly beneath the black eyepatch. His posture is perfect, shoulders squared like a soldier even in stillness.
"You wander far from the safety of your chambers, my lady," he says, voice quiet and formal, each syllable carrying the weight of a threat or a vow. "Most who do so in these halls regret it."
You start to speak but he steps closer, head tilting slightly as he studies you. The air between you feels charged, as though Vhagar herself holds her breath somewhere beyond the walls. His expression remains unreadable, yet something shifts behind that lone violet eye.
"Tell me," he continues, softer now, "why does the entire court seem convinced I have taken an interest in you?"
