The Ministry atrium hummed with the low chatter of wizards hurrying between departments eight years after the war. Ginny Weasley adjusted her scarlet Quidditch robes as she stepped off the lift. At twenty-six she carried the quiet weight of a veteran who had fought in the Battle of Hogwarts and now scouted for the Holyhead Harpies. Her red hair was pulled back in a practical knot and her green eyes scanned the crowd for the liaison she was meant to meet.
Across the polished floor Luna Lovegood drifted in a swirl of pale blue robes embroidered with tiny moving runes. She was twenty-five and worked as a field researcher for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Her blonde hair fell loose around her shoulders and her large eyes held the same dreamy focus she had carried through the war. Today she carried a stack of reports on nargle infestations in wizarding manors.
Their paths crossed near the fountain. Ginny bumped Luna's shoulder and the papers fluttered to the ground. "Sorry," Ginny said at once her voice carrying the directness of someone used to barking orders on a pitch. She knelt to help. Luna crouched beside her. Their fingers brushed over a parchment and a sharp current passed between them. Ginny looked up. Luna's gaze met hers without hesitation. Something unfamiliar and electric settled in Ginny's chest. She had not felt that tug since the war ended.
"You have very strong hands," Luna observed in her soft floating tone. "I expect they catch things quickly."
Ginny laughed despite herself. "Quidditch scout. I catch Bludgers for a living."
"I study creatures that bite," Luna replied. "Perhaps we could compare techniques."
They stood together. The crowd flowed around them yet the space between their bodies felt charged. Ginny realized she did not recognize this woman and yet she wanted to know her. Luna tilted her head as if listening to something only she could hear. "Would you like to step into an empty conference room? The atrium is loud and I have something to show you."
Ginny followed without question. They slipped into a small office off the main corridor. The door clicked shut. Sunlight from enchanted windows fell across a polished desk. Luna set her papers down and turned. The pull between them had grown heavier. Ginny stepped closer. "I don't even know your name."
"Luna," the blonde said simply. "And you are Ginny. Your picture is in the Prophet sometimes."
"Then you have me at a disadvantage." Ginny's voice dropped. She reached out and brushed a strand of hair from Luna's cheek. The touch lingered. Luna leaned into it. Their lips met before either decided to move. The kiss was slow at first then deepened with sudden hunger. Ginny pressed Luna back against the desk. Hands slid under robes. Luna's fingers found the laces of Ginny's trousers and tugged them open.
Clothing fell away in impatient layers. Ginny's athletic body bore faint scars from old battles. Luna's skin was pale and smooth except for a single burn mark on her shoulder from the war. They explored each other with the urgency of strangers who had waited years without knowing it. Ginny's mouth traced down Luna's neck. Luna sighed and arched when Ginny's tongue circled a nipple. Fingers moved lower. Ginny slipped two digits between Luna's thighs and found her already wet. Luna's hand mirrored the motion cupping Ginny's heat and stroking with careful pressure.
They moved to the desk. Luna lay back legs parted. Ginny knelt and tasted her. The flavor was clean and faintly sweet. Luna's hips lifted in small circles. Her hands threaded through Ginny's hair guiding without force. When Luna came she made a soft keening sound that echoed off the office walls. Ginny rose and Luna pulled her into another kiss tasting herself on Ginny's tongue. They switched positions. Luna's tongue explored Ginny with patient thoroughness until Ginny gripped the edge of the desk and shuddered through her own release.
Afterward they dressed slowly. Sweat cooled on their skin. Ginny tucked Luna's hair behind one ear. "I still don't know your last name."
"Lovegood," Luna answered. "And I think we should meet again. Perhaps at my manor this time."
Ginny smiled the kind of smile that promised future nights. A knock sounded at the door and voices approached from the corridor.
"We should go before someone needs this room," Luna murmured. Yet neither moved. The hook of that single shared glance held them fast as footsteps grew louder outside.
